Hi folks, I'm heading down the Southampton, Mass this weekend for my first crack at the JAM Fund Cycling Team's Gran Fundo, which will cover 82 miles of hilly dirt roads south of Deerfield, which some will be familiar with from the Deerfield Dirt Road Randonnee. The Gran FUNdo is both FUN, being a non-competitive event, and about raising FUNDs for the Jam Fund, which is a small but mighty nonprofit organization. The creation of Jeremy Powers, Alec Donahue, and Mukunda Feldmand (JAM), the Fund has been helping aspiring cyclocross racers in New England develop into the elite ranks since 2003, with notable alumni currently tearing up the North American circuit, such as Anthony Clark and Stephen Hyde. JAM's efforts to both grow and professionalize cyclocross in the US are both impressive and inspiring. Saturday's event is an annual gathering of passionate riders from all over the US and Canada, a celebration of what Jam Fund has accomplished, and another stone in the foundaiton of more good work to come.
Each rider is given the opportunity to raise funds for the organization, and I have set up this page for this purpose. If you feel good about what Jam Fund is doing, and would like to pitch in, no amount is too small. There are incentives for amounts of money raised, including a free entry for a minimum of $250 (USD). If I happen to pull in that much, I'll randomly draw this entry from the names of those who donated. Thanks for reading! www.jamcycling.org
All donations are tax deductible since JAM is a 501c-3 organization.
JAM is a registerd 501c3 organization created in 2003 by Jeremy Powers, Alec Donahue and Mukunda Feldman, good friends brought together through their passion for cycling. JAM's mission is to help motivated, young cyclists to reach their potential on and off the bike, while helping remove the financial barriers that can limit success. We accomplish this through close mentoring, volunteering and engagement in the cycling community. We distribute grants to young riders who show interest, determination and desire to be their best. It is also our goal to showcase the incredible cycling that the Pioneer Valley offers. Every dollar raised through the Grand Fundo goes directly to the JAM Fund's development program. By becoming a fundraiser, your contribution will help us continue to make an impact and help the riders fulfill their dreams. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the Grand Fundo!
