WELCOME TO MY WMASS MOTHER’S DAY Half Marathon FUNDRAISING PAGE!

On May 14, I will run the Western Mass Mother’s Day Half Marathon with the purpose of raising critical funds and awareness to help those dealing with cancer!

Thanks to Kirsti Wiemokly for the great idea! (and for her words, which follow... I coud not have written this any better.)

This half marathon is dedicated to my wonderful mother, Karen Wiemokly. My mom has always been one of my biggest fans and a great support system. I am blessed to run this race for her (and join my youngest sister as she does the same!) In addition to being an amazing mom to four children, she has dedicated her life to being a nurse and taking care of others. She herself annually fundraises for the Cancer Connection through Monty's Campout event and this organization holds a dear place in her heart.

While I'm running this race as a dedication to my mom and all she has done for others, the cause holds a very important place in my heart too. The money being raised goes directly to the Cancer Connection. My dad has been cancer free for a year now!! We are so lucky that he received such wonderful treatment and care! We are very blessed that he has recovered, unforunately that is not the case for all patients and families. 

By participating as a fundraiser for Cancer Connection, I am raising funds to help fund wellness programs and therapies for those dealing with cancer as well as their families & caregivers.

Your donation will help fund treatments that impact lives every day; like yoga, reiki, water aerobics, knitting, as well as many support groups. You may not know it, but every single donation helps provide these services free of charge to local community members.

It takes more than one person to make up a team and that’s why I’m asking you to join my cancer fighting team through your tax deductible donation.

At our center on Locust Street in Northampton, people living with cancer, their families and caregivers can meet one-on-one in a comforting and welcoming environment with staff or volunteers. We also host support groups that offer coping strategies and emotional support.  Other services include integrative therapies (Reiki, reflexology, acupuncture, massage and guided imagery), programs and workshops including creative arts and exercise classes that focus on relieving physical and emotional stress and building physical and emotional strength.

Cancer Connection offers programs and support free of charge for men, women and children living with a cancer diagnosis, their families and friends. You are welcome to attend as many programs as you would like, based on space availability. We offer additional classes and workshops in the spring and fall. You can call our center and ask to be added to the mailing list for our next program guide.

Priority for our programs is given to those currently in treatment along with their family and caregivers.  All programs, unless noted, are held at Cancer Connection:
