Welcome to my JDRF ODRAM fundraising page!
I’m taking part in the 2017 ODRAM, along with hundreds of riders from around the world, to raise money for JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
When I first heard of ODRAM I wanted to do it as a total ego thing. One hundred and fifty miles in one day sounded like such a mid-life crisis macho thing. I loved doing long distance biking when I was younger, but since I got married other things took up my time. Then I developed a heart condition called A-fib and I thought I would never do any long distance riding again. After 16 years of living with A-fib I decided to try the surgery to correct it. It looks like the surgery worked, so at 59 years old, I decided to get back in shape and do the ODRAM.
At first I thought I was just signing up for the ego boosting 150 miles, after all I had never done a fundraising event. I do not know how to ask people to donate. I do not have a social media site. But most of all I did not know of any child that has diabetes. As soon as I thought that words came into my head “What if nobody had to know a child suffering with diabetes?”.
Please donate.
