HELP ME HELP OTHERS FINISH THEIR RIDE AND MAKE STREETS SAFER FOR ALL.
I hope by now, everyone knows that I'm a cyclist, a rider and a runner. Although running is my preferred sport, cycling has made me a better runner. I've been lucky that nothing has happened to me, but I've had my share of unsafe motorists.
This is why I decided to help SAFE. The story behind SAFE and the Finish The Ride event is amazing! Damian Kevitt started SAFE after he was a victim of his own hit and run crime when he was riding his bicycle in 2013. Dragged under a car nearly 1/4 mile from the streets onto and down the freeway, he barely survived but lost his leg. Instead of giving up, Damian decided to use what happened to him to save the lives of others and created the signature event, Finish The Ride, which helps bring awareness of hit and run crimes and improve safety on the roads.

BY DONATING TO MY CAMPAIGN, YOU'RE HELPING SAFE CONTINUE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
The goal is to raise at least $10,000 to fund education programs (including a PSA education program targeting high school students) and expand SAFE Support -- the nation's FIRST support system for victims/families affected by traffic collisions.
PLEASE HELP ME TAKE SAFE CAMPAIGNS FURTHER AND MAKE SAFER STREETS FOR ALL – SUPPORT SAFE.
Finish The Ride, Run, Walk 'n Roll in Griffith Park
Take part in Finish The Ride, Run, Walk N' Roll and help handle the #1 killer of young adults in the US.
Los Angeles is the most dangerous city in America to walk, bike or drive in. Approximately 6,500 pedestrians and 900 bicyclists are injured or killed each year as a result of collisions with motor vehicles and many more injuries that are never reported.
By participating in the Finish The Ride event or donating to a participant, you can help change these conditions.
The event benefits Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE) – a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing traffic fatalities, ending hit and run crimes and helping those who have been affected by traffic collisions.

Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in January of 2014. Our mission is to aim to improve the quality of life for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers alike by working to reduce traffic caused fatalities to Zero. SAFE addresses this problem in a holistic fashion through direct education, broad awareness campaigns, partnerships, community outreach, policy and legislation, support for those impacted and other proven strategies.
Dedicated SAFE staff and volunteers with a combined 75 years of experience in the non-profit sector have, in the short time since establishment, changed the face of traffic safety.
About SAFE programs:
1. SAFE Support -- the nation's first support system for victims of traffic collisions. This program is currently active and spreading across LA County. With 52,000 people sent to the hospital or killed each year just in LA County, this is a VITAL program for the people of L.A. The only thing that hinders it from reaching EVERY hospital emergency room in L.A. are the resources. By supporting SAFE Support, you are helping those directly affected by the #1 killer of young adults in the US -- traffic collisions.
2. Southern California Families for Safe Streets -- Working with Los Angeles Walks, SAFE has brought together a coalition of community members who have lost loved ones to preventable traffic collisions. SoCal FSS is a volunteer coalition of individuals who have personally survived a severe traffic crash or whose loved ones have been killed or seriously injured. FSS is committed to preventing these devastating crashes from affecting other families by gathering and sharing information and stories with the purpose of creating a groundswell of demand for safer streets. The group advocates for policy, engineering, enforcement, and education solutions that will be the most effective in improving our streets for everyone who walks, bicycles and drives in Southern California. This is something that SAFE is accomplishing as well.
2. Streets, Art, SAFE -- a cutting edge program to educate high school students on traffic safety through the arts. Streets, Art, SAFE is a multi-school competition in which Hollywood filmmakers mentor High School students on producing traffic safety PSAs. Students not only learn about making safer streets, including good and bad driving habits, but they also learn how to make video, team leading skills and how to convey an effective message. The winning team will receive prizes and their school will receive an arts education grant.
In its 4th year, this program is expanding -- the more resources available, the more schools and students take part.
3. Legislation and Policy -- With the help of local and state legislators, SAFE has spearheaded 5 different policy changes to increase penalties for hit and run criminals and give law enforcement additional tools to help catch those who commit hit and runs.
4. Media and Awareness Campaigns -- SAFE media and billboard campaigns have reached millions. In fact, our work has directly resulted in close to 250 million people reached regarding the importance of traffic safety and handling hit and runs in Southern California.
