I am writing today as a friend of the Dutton and Jones family and someone who admires and loves Lee Lee. As many of you know on December 22, 2016 Lee Lee suffered a traumatic brain injury in a riding accident. Lee Lee spent 7 1/2 weeks in ICU at Christiana Hospital with multiple complications to her brain injury. When she was well enough she was transferred to Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital in Media, PA. Lee Lee has made significant and definite steps forward in her recovery, although it is very slow. It is going to take an enormous amount of determination by Lee Lee and a lot of patience and support from her friends and family. As her Doctors, nurses and therapists say "this is a marathon, not a sprint".
Lee Lee remains at Bryn Mawr Rehab where she receives around the clock care and copious amounts of therapy - Speech, Occupational, Physical and Recreational. Once she is discharged from BMR, Lee Lee will continue with outpatient therapy at Bryn Mawr Rehab and will need additional nursing help at home.
A wheelchair accesible house, wheelchair van, home nursing support and daily therapy are just a small list of things that Lee Lee will need that won't be covered by insurance.
As friends we can come together and relieve the financial burden facing Lee Lee's family. We believe we can do this as a community and provide some of the things that will be needed to help with Lee Lee's recovery. There are so many signs that Lee Lee is making positive improvements. Our hope is that by relieving the financial burden on her family, they can focus on supporting her physically and mentally without the stress and anxiety associated with financial worries on top of all the other challenges.
Lee Lee's family have been overwhelmed by the love, encouragement and support given by friends and the whole community.

This forward was written for a "GoFundMe" page we will share for Lee Lee. In the meatime Jake Chalfin has graciously allowed Lee Lee and Paddy Young to be co recipients of proceeds from Chasin For Chalfin fundraiser.
in the beautiful Runnymede Sanctuary, the Chasin' for Chalfin Trail Run brings together runners from far and wide for a challenging 5K and 10K trail course. The beauty of the surroundings and support of such a great cause make for a fun and exciting day of trail racing. This race was originally conceived in support of Jake Chalfin, a neighbor and a friend who suffered an accident in 2010 which left him paralyzed from the chest down, facing significant long-term expenses associated with his special needs. The race has since evolved over the years and they are now able to share the race proceeds with other individuals needing adaptive equipment and organizations who support individuals with such needs. In 2017, the Chasin' for Chalfin race will also benefit Lee Lee Jones and Paddy Young. Lee Lee suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in December 2016 and is currently at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation. Once discharged, she will need around-the-clock medical care, as well as copious amounts of therapy, including speech, occupational, and physical. Paddy suffered a TBI on May 2017. A father of 3, he will have extensive medical bills incurred from his hospitalization as well as ongoing medical costs.
If you wish to donate to specifically Jake, Lee Lee, or Paddy's cause, please leave a note with your online donation specifying who you wish the funds go to, or donate to the PledgeReg team for that individual. About the Cause
Chasin’ for Chalfin was established in 2010 in support of Jake Chalfin, a steeplechase jockey who was paralyzed in a fall on September 18, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Point to Point Races. Initially Chasin’ for Chalfin, run by a group of his friends, supported the renovation/adaptation of his house to make it wheelchair accessible and funded the 24/7 care Jake needed following his return home from 6 months of hospitalized rehabilitation. As Jake has become more independent, the focus of Chasin’ for Chalfin has transformed into a platform supporting health and well-being through outdoor adaptive sports and recreation. Jake loves the outdoors and the beauty of the natural landscape as well as the physical and mental challenge recreational sports provide. Every June, Chasin’ for Chalfin hosts the Runnymede Run, the last leg of the Trail Creek Series, a group of 5 cross country foot races. The proceeds of this race support Jake and other disabled athletes who have a desire to improve their health and quality of life by challenging themselves through outdoor recreation.
