I'm running/walking for Cancer Connection on August 12th!
Please help me support the thousands of people in Western Massachusetts and beyond who are living with cancer, along with their loved ones who benefit from Cancer Connection's free programs.
Cancer Connection offers a haven where individuals with cancer, their loved ones and caregivers can learn to cope with the physical and emotional turmoil that is part of a cancer diagnosis and to explore ways to enhance their strength, their hope and their care through support groups, integrative therapies, creative activities and education. All services are offered free of charge.
At their center in Northampton, people living with cancer, their families and caregivers can meet one-on-one in a comforting and welcoming environment with staff or trained volunteers. They host support groups that offer coping strategies and emotional support. Other services include integrative therapies (Reiki, reflexology, acupuncture, massage therapy, therapeutic facials, cranio-sacral therapy and guided imagery), programs and workshops including creative arts and exercise classes that focus on relieving physical and emotional stress and building physical and emotional strength.
In the words of a participant, “What makes Cancer Connection unique is that it is the only local organization that fills the gap between diagnosis and recovery. It does not promise to develop the cure of tomorrow but it helps heal the pain of today. I witnessed firsthand the miracles that happen every single day in this welcoming shelter. I saw so many people enter as wounded patients and then transform into empowered individuals better prepared to cope with the turmoil of cancer.”
I hope you'll consider making a donation to help me meet my fundraising goal. Your gift, which is tax deductible, will go directly to Cancer Connection to support their important work. You can make your donation online, or mail a check to Cancer Connection, 41 Locust Street Northampton, MA 01060. If you want to learn more about Cancer Connection's programs and services, visit their website: www.cancer-connection.org.
Thank you so much for your support!
Bridge of Flowers - Cancer Connection Fundraising 2017
Get your running shoes on and join Cancer Connection at the 39th Annual Bridge of Flowers 10K and 3K Charity Run/Walk on August 12, 2017.
Be part of the competition, festivities and fun! Thousands of runners, walkers and spectators descend on the picturesque village of Shelburne Falls for this annual race. You can run, walk, cheer, or volunteer! When you register for the walk or run, vote CANCER CONNECTION as your charity of choice. As one of this year’s non-profit beneficiaries, Cancer Connection will receive a percentage of the race proceeds based on the number of people who select our charity when they register, and the number of volunteers we bring to the race! Also, registrants have the opportunity, if they so chose, to fundraise through a dedicated race pledge page. All of the donations gathered on-line by runners and walkers will come directly to Cancer Connection.
Your support makes a difference. Funds raised from this event will go to support services provided free of charge for individuals with cancer and their loved ones throughout the Pioneer Valley and beyond. Cancer Connection has approximately 1,100 active participants and each month, some 30 or more people who have just been diagnosed or whose loved ones need our support call or come into our center to meet one-on-one with a trained staff member or volunteer.
