On July 8th my sister, Bethany, and brother-in-law, Gavin, brought their newest daughter into this world! And in doing so they blessed my entire family with Violet Marie Cairl, a beautiful, perfect little girl who also happens to have Down Syndrome. And blessed we are! I know this girl is going to move mountains, bring a smile to everyone she meets, and give us so much joy. But in all likelihood, she will also face challenges and have to overcome many obstacles throughout her life. Luckily for her, she has the two most amazing parents she could have possibly asked for! And in support of them, Violet and this new adventure they are all embarking on, my family will be walking in the 14th Annual Western Mass Buddy Walk on September 30th. The Down Syndrome Resource Group of Western Massachusetts was started in September 1999 by parents who had a common interest in sharing information and resources in caring for their children. The group provides information about family support, resources, parent training, and social opportunities.
