Because Home Shouldn't Be A Scary Place
This Halloween, know what’s really scary? Not feeling safe in your own home. Spending every waking moment frightened, humiliated, and vulnerable. Countless members of our community here in Dutchess County are besieged not by storybook monsters, but by the very real danger of domestic violence. Grace Smith House receives calls every week from our neighbors, coworkers and friends terrified of their intimate partner. They are in need of a safe place to run, an escape from the nightmare. We can offer them that refuge, by fundraising together to support the mission of Grace Smith House during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
A donation of ANY amount is much appreciated, but please consider these donation levels.
GHASTLY GHOST LEVEL
When we raise $100 for GSH, we will help get a woman and her child to the safety of our shelter.
MOURNFUL MOON LEVEL
When we raise $500, we will help that survivor take the next step towards healing, by providing her with knowledgeable and compassionate counselors.
WICKED WITCH
Raising $1,000 provides that survivor with the legal support she will need to obtain an Order of Protection, regain her possessions and property, and feel safe beyond the security of our shelter.
HAUNTED HOUSE LEVEL
With $2,000, we will give our survivor the greatest gift of all - a new life free from the shadow of domestic violence.
PREMIER PUMPKIN
When we raise $5,000 – an astounding triumph that requires dedication and generosity – we are providing countless young people in Dutchess County access to preventative education. GSH's community educators empower a new generation against teen dating violence and bullying, fostering empathy and healthy relationships, and the development of upstander intervention skills. Together, we can prevent individuals in our community from ever becoming victims of domestic violence.
