Set in the beautiful Runnymede Sanctuary, the Chasin' for Chalfin Trail Run brings together runners from far and wide for a challenging 5K and 10K trail course.  The beauty of the surroundings and support of such a great cause make for a fun and exciting day of trail racing.  This race was originally conceived in support of Jake Chalfin, a neighbor and a friend who suffered an accident in 2010 which left him paralyzed from the chest down, facing significant long-term expenses associated with his special needs.  The race has since evolved over the years and they are now able to share the race proceeds with other individuals needing adaptive equipment and organizations who support individuals with such needs.

About the Cause
Chasin’ for Chalfin was established in 2010 in support of Jake Chalfin, a steeplechase jockey who was paralyzed in a fall on September 18, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Point to Point Races. Initially Chasin’ for Chalfin, run by a group of his friends, supported the renovation/adaptation of his house to make it wheelchair accessible and funded the 24/7 care Jake needed following his return home from 6 months of hospitalized rehabilitation. As Jake has become more independent, the focus of Chasin’ for Chalfin has transformed into a platform supporting health and well-being through outdoor adaptive sports and recreation.  Jake loves the outdoors and the beauty of the natural landscape as well as the physical and mental challenge recreational sports provide.  Every June, Chasin’ for Chalfin hosts the Runnymede Run, the last leg of the Trail Creek Series, a group of 5 cross country foot races.  The proceeds of this race support Jake and other disabled athletes who have a desire to improve their health and quality of life by challenging themselves through outdoor recreation.  For any directed mail-in donations (Mail To: Velo Amis 24 Nightingale Circle Newark, DE 19711), please write a note in the memo line on the check.
