I ride for all of the innocent victims of senseless acts of gun violence; I ride for the 26 precious lives that were taken in Sandy Hook. I ride to allow people to make choices freely. I ride in the hopes that, in order to purchase a gun, you should be required to pass a background check and receive proper training prior to ownership.
I have been cycling for well over 25 years and during my many training rides alone I have had several incidents involving motorists threatening me with weapons to get off “their road” and, in one incident, an individual firing a weapon into the air just after they passed by me in an attempt to get a reaction. Obviously, there are more irresponsible people like this out there that also should not have access to these weapons.
I ride with the hope to help prevent senseless violence. I ride so that people who are alive now can continue to spend time with their families, grow old, and live out their dreams. I ride because people who feel alone and need help should not be afraid to ask for it. I love to ride for a purpose and above all I love to ride because it makes me feel alive.

Sandy Hook Ride on Washington
For the 6th time, 26 cyclists will ride to honor the 26 killed at the Sandy Hook School and all victims of gun violence, to raise awareness of the public health crisis of gun violence, and to support common sense measures to reduce it. We will ride Newtown, Connecticut to Washington, D.C. from May 5 to May 8, 2018 Our ride will take us towards and through states that are working to reduce gun violence. Until members of the Congress do their jobs and pass laws to make Americans safer instead of offering thoughts and prayers for victims, we will continue to ride.
