Why I Ride
Tony Settel
South Burlington, VT
I ride to remember all of those precious little ones taken from us on 12/14. I ride for the educators who heard the shots and ran towards them thinking only of protecting their kids. As a father to a six year old, as a guidance counselor who has spent two decades working in high schools, middle schools and elementry schools, my connection to the staff and students is visceral. I ride in this group to show that we hear the cries of gun violence victims, and stridently appeal for common-sense laws to at least begin to curb the gun epidemic in our country. I ride to show you that the victims and survivors are neither forgotten nor alone.

Sandy Hook Ride on Washington
For the 6th time, 26 cyclists will ride to honor the 26 killed at the Sandy Hook School and all victims of gun violence, to raise awareness of the public health crisis of gun violence, and to support common sense measures to reduce it. We will ride Newtown, Connecticut to Washington, D.C. from May 5 to May 8, 2018 Our ride will take us towards and through states that are working to reduce gun violence. Until members of the Congress do their jobs and pass laws to make Americans safer instead of offering thoughts and prayers for victims, we will continue to ride.
