My wife and I are lifelong residents of Newtown. We have raised our two children here and have always felt it was a special place. In 2012 I was coaching the Newtown Titans – a 7th grade boys travel soccer team. The families had been together for a number of years and we had become a family. We traveled to tournaments together, played family soccer games together, tailgated together. The soccer team was made up of a very special group of families and we looked forward to getting together every weekend.
On 12/14 two younger siblings of the team, “Junior Titans,” were taken from us, Daniel Barden and Jesse Lewis. Two special boys who were a part of my special soccer family. I still think of them daily.
Why I ride is in honor of Daniel Barden and Jesse Lewis.
Why I ride is that we can never forget what happened in my town.
Why I ride is so we continue to raise awareness that change can and must happen that will keep our society safe.

Sandy Hook Ride on Washington
For the 6th time, 26 cyclists will ride to honor the 26 killed at the Sandy Hook School and all victims of gun violence, to raise awareness of the public health crisis of gun violence, and to support common sense measures to reduce it. We will ride Newtown, Connecticut to Washington, D.C. from May 5 to May 8, 2018 Our ride will take us towards and through states that are working to reduce gun violence. Until members of the Congress do their jobs and pass laws to make Americans safer instead of offering thoughts and prayers for victims, we will continue to ride.
