Dear Friends, this will be my fourth time riding to Washington, DC with Team 26. I was hoping I wouldn’t need to ride this many years, but alas, I feel the need to ride again. As a Mom and an educator, life has changed drastically for our children and our schools since the Sandy Hook tragedy. Personally, as a former Sandy Hook resident, I realize that now I am not only concerned about our kids as students, but for my sister and step-daughter in public schools as teachers in Florida and Baltimore. They are fighting new battles that none of us dreamed of being part of getting an education in the United States. We know more than ever the tragedies aren’t going away, and I know riding my bike isn’t going to solve all that. However, the riding we have done over the past six years has helped reach more communities and people than I think possible in a traditional fashion, and we bring hope to communities small and large that gun violence is cared about year after year. Please help support me in riding to Washington again. Thank you.

Sandy Hook Ride on Washington
For the 6th time, 26 cyclists will ride to honor the 26 killed at the Sandy Hook School and all victims of gun violence, to raise awareness of the public health crisis of gun violence, and to support common sense measures to reduce it. We will ride Newtown, Connecticut to Washington, D.C. from May 5 to May 8, 2018 Our ride will take us towards and through states that are working to reduce gun violence. Until members of the Congress do their jobs and pass laws to make Americans safer instead of offering thoughts and prayers for victims, we will continue to ride.
