Welcome to my fundraising page! I'm very excited to raise money for a cause I believe in - New Horizons! This is our 16th year raising money in memory of my dad, Bob Powers. My dad was a social worker for the City of Manchester Welfare Department for 25 years who passed away suddenly in April 2002. His coworkers started a team in his memory that year for the Walk Against Hunger, and our family has continued the tradition ever since. Please consider donating. Walk Against Hunger
Join us and the many people committed to ending hunger and homelessness in our community!
When: Sunday, May 20, 2018
11:00 Registration, 12:00 start time for walk - rain or shine
Where: Veteran’s Park, on the corner of Elm and Merrimack Street in Manchester.
What: Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. Donors receive a free t-shirt (with $10 minimum donation). Water will be provided to walkers at various intervals throughout the route. Food and beverages will be provided to walkers at the end of the route. Awards will be given to the walker or team who raised the most money to support New Horizons or Angie’s.
Since 1973, New Horizons has worked to assist low income persons to address the social issues facing them. Today we’re an adult homeless shelter, a soup kitchen, a food pantry, and Angie's Shelter for Women.
Our mission is to provide hunger relief, emergency shelter, safe affordable housing, and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless or in need enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect.
