Welcome to my fundraising page.
The Food Justice Bike Ride is a great example of how a Community can come together to support a worthwhile cause (The Stone Soup Cafe...a pay-what-you-can Community Space where nutritious food is served and the body, mind, and spirit are fed). Please contribute $1 for each mile that I ride for the 15 mile ride or $0.50/mile for the 43 mile ride. Stone Soup Cafe's mantra is "Every Ingredient Counts, Especially You!".
Food Justice Bike Ride
The Food Justice Bike Ride was created this year out of our desire to reduce hunger in our community. This year we are supporting The Stone Soup Cafe in Greenfield, Mass. This appeal seeks to raise $3,000 to contribute to the funds needed to continue the ongoing operation of the Cafe this year. The Cafe attracts an average of over 100 patrons per week, many of whom live below the poverty line. The meal served is cooked from scratch and the ingredients are all locally sourced and lovingly prepared by our volunteer kitchen staff. Each weekend, it takes around 30 volunteers to prepare and cook the meal, to set up, serve, and breakdown the dining room, and clean the kitchen. Over 5,000 hours of volunteer time is logged in a year and over 7,500 meals are served. These are big numbers created out of big hearts.
Come ride with us and/or support this very worthy cause.
Food Justice Bike Ride is a newly formed 501 (c) (3) non-profit company created with the mission to create and operate bike rides in the local community for the purpose of fighting hunger in our community. We plan to do this by raising funds through rider entry fees, fundraising, sponsorships, and rafffles using the proceeds to directly benefit those in the community who are in need of nutritious food.
