I am running the Western Mass Mother's Day Half Marathon in May of 2019 as a five year cancer survivor. March 31st will mark that anniversary and I remain hopeful I reach that day cancer free. There is not a day that passes that I do not feel fortunate to be one of the lucky ones, to be here motivating others to take accountability for their personal health.
Cancer has stricken far to many of us, and I would love to do my part to support others in recieving the care they need to survive too. The Cancer Connection is an incredible program that needs us, I cannot tell you how much they did to support me personally and I want to give back. With your support, I can do this!
Please consider helping me raise funds to help Cancer Connection of Northampton, MA to help people dealing with cancer, as well as their caregivers and family members. This local non-profit offers a multitude of classes, services, therapies and support groups to help better the quality of life for those affected.
Running the distance of 13.1 miles is easy in comparison to battling the cancer demon, I know this personally. The photo you see is an actual treatment, one of several actually, that I received. I can remember all to well how it felt to take in the "red devil". This was a horrifying treatment that left me knocked down for days afterward. I can remember feeling it slow my heart as it traveled through my body, as it literally sucked the life and energy out of me.
Please support me and help me reach my goal as a participant in the run, but also as a member of Team Terry. Terry was a dear friend who sadly, was not one of the lucky ones. We run/walk in honor of this incredible soul who touched so many lives.
Thank you for your support, it means so very much!
WMass Mother's Day Half Marathon
Spend your Mother's Day celebrating mom with a gorgeous country run! 13.1 Miles of farm fields, country roads and a few rolling hills with breath-taking views. The proceeds from this race go to Cancer Connection, a local non-profit organization which offers helpful services to those dealing with cancer as well as their families and caretakers. From various therapies like massage and Reiki to exercise classes of Pilates, aqua-aerobics and rowing, to craft classes as well as support groups...this organization's main goal is to help people live better while fighting a battle so many are dealing with.
Your generosity is what keeps this organization functioning as a top-notch resource for those who need it.
All of the funds stay local and help (literally) your neighbors, and maybe even you some day.
The value of these services is immeasurable from the receiving end of the spectrum...as is the value of your efforts in helping us raise funds.
This is the ultimate 'Pay It Forward' race! Thank you for your participation.
