MOO-VE OVER FOLKS… WE"RE RUNNING/WALKING/CHEERING FOR TERRY, AGAIN!

Last year Team Terry raised $5,000 in memory of Terry Everett, and each member of the team finished the race with grace, despite many struggles. Every mile--every MINUTE-- we struggled, we channeled the generous support of our friends and family to keep those legs going. Finishing last year wouldn't have been possible without your support. 

You know what's still true? I really dislike running. So much so that my body is simply saying no this year. Over the past few months, I've been struggling with chronic knee and foot issues that mean running a half, or even walking 9 miles is totally out of the question.

I'm really disappointed that I won't be hitting the pavement this year. But I can't forget what brought me to this event to begin with--all in memory of Terry. Fast friends since my second year of college 10 years ago, Terry’s twin daughters Becky and Emily have meant so much to me. They, along with their older sister Faith, are prime examples of the imprint Terry was capable of leaving behind. These women are some of the strongest, most charming and caring humans I’ve ever met, and I blame it all on Terry. I am incredibly honored that I am able to spend any amount of time with them, and will always cherish the time on the trail I was able to spend with Terry on over the years, especially my first summit of Mt. Washington.

So on May 12, I will stll be present at race day, supporing my inspiring team of strong humans with the purpose of raising critical funds and awareness to help those dealing with cancer.

By participating as a fundraiser for Cancer Connection, I am raising funds necessary to support wellness programs and therapies for those dealing with cancer as well as their families and caregivers. Your donation will help fund treatments that impact lives every day, like yoga, reiki, water aerobics, knitting, as well as many support groups. You may not know it, but every single donation helps provide these services free of charge to local community members.

Please consider making a donation in support of my efforts for Cancer Connection in Terry’s memory, and help us offer even more wellness services to our community members in need.

At our center on Locust Street in Northampton, people living with cancer, their families and caregivers can meet one-on-one in a comforting and welcoming environment with staff or volunteers. We also host support groups that offer coping strategies and emotional support.  Other services include integrative therapies (Reiki, reflexology, acupuncture, massage and guided imagery), programs and workshops including creative arts and exercise classes that focus on relieving physical and emotional stress and building physical and emotional strength.

Cancer Connection offers programs and support free of charge for men, women and children living with a cancer diagnosis, their families and friends. You are welcome to attend as many programs as you would like, based on space availability. We offer additional classes and workshops in the spring and fall. You can call our center and ask to be added to the mailing list for our next program guide.

Priority for our programs is given to those currently in treatment along with their family and caregivers.  All programs, unless noted, are held at Cancer Connection:
