Welcome to my Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund ODRAM fundraising page!
Hello Everyone! I have signed up again this year for the One Day Ride Across Michigan. It is a 150-mile ride across the state to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Many of you know that last year, I was hit by a car while on a training ride. This year, I am going for it again! Now that my broken back and ribs have healed, I am going to fulfill my promise to complete the ride. Thank you so much for all of the donations last year. It meant so much to us - especially to Mamie.
The reason why this ride is so important to me is very personal. Our daughter, Mamie, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in December 2017. I am doing this ride to raise money for JDRF to help find a cure for Mamie and millions of others that have T1D. Please consider supporting this important cause. Every dollar of your donation goes straight to JDRF. Last year, we were able to raise $1,675 dollars! I hope to raise even more this year. You can find more information below that explains T1D. Mamie has to go through so much every day to manage this disease, and she will have to do so for the rest of her life, unless a cure is discovered.
Did you know T1D:
- Strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle.
- Occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is essential to turning food into energy.
- Requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin. JDRF is working every day to change this. And every dollar I raise helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found.
I have been hard at work training and fundraising, and your gift today will propel me toward the finish line. Please donate and help JDRF achieve its goal of a world without T1D.
Please check back to view my fundraising progress as my ODRAM weekend approaches. Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Chris and Mamie Ewing
