I’m taking part in the 2019 ODRAM, along with hundreds of riders from around the world, to raise money for JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
Did you know T1D:
- Strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle.
- Occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is essential to turning food into energy.
- Requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
JDRF is working every day to change this. And every dollar I raise helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found.
As you might already know that this isn't my first Cycling4Good campaign. 5 years ago I ventured across the the Great State of Michigan, on Journey from Mackinac to Texas. I made it to Texas with many Blessings and Hardships, even crashing out in Dennison TX! The campaign was worth every effort, to raise awareness for Foster Care and Adoption. Even though I didn't finish to my destination, 354 miles short, I accomplished something most will never get to experience.
I've been cycling for 20+ years solid and ever since a child, cycling the Hills of Pittsburgh. This JDRF ODRAM Ride is something that will give Hope to many, who will benefit from your cheerful giving. I know that just Cycling across Michigan in one day is a feat, that is greatly to be admonished, but your gift is more Greatly Admonished!
