Jack's Journey and Why We Donate and Fundraise
First off, we need to take a moment to thank everyone. We have now raised almost $50,000 over the last 5 years thanks to your incredible and generous donations. Please know how much that means to us to be a part of.
Jack has many challenges. He is not your typical 6 year old. We are not your typical family. We have long been fortunate to be surrounded by great family, friends, and institutional services – whether that be the incredible Londonderry School System, or the amazing organization Easter Seals. We truly would be lost without the entirety of this support system. For that we are eternally grateful for, and forever indebted to.
Jack was born with Hypotonia (low muscle tone). This has presented several physical challenges for him over the course of his development. Fortunately, my wife Alison noticed some early warning signs and we were able to jump on this early on and get help thanks to Easter Seals. We had various therapists coming into our home, 5 days a week, free of charge, at a time when we did not have much money to otherwise get these services for Jack. It is for that very reason that we will always continue to give back to this great organization, so that they can be there for those in need for years to come.
Jack is progressing every day but will continue to have an uphill battle. He has Hypotonia, Global Developmental Delay, and was recently diagnosed Autistic. His most recent tests have him in the bottom 5 percentile for his age group in all functional domains. He is happy and loving but life does not come easy for him.. He has taught us far more than we have taught him and he inspires us daily. The appreciation that we have for otherwise everyday moments, makes our lives special and meaningful.
The team at Easter Seals (Jack had 6 different therapists, plus the additional supportive staff), has been absolutely incredible. We are forever indebted to them. That is why I am asking for your help on this cause. I can't imagine others being in our situation down the road, and not having access to these services. Their commitment and support to Jack, Alison & myself is second to none.
Eversource Walk & 5k Run for Easterseals
The Eversource Walk & 5k Run for Easterseals is a community driven, fundraising event benefiting Easterseals NH.
For 85 years, Easterseals NH has provided exceptional services to ensure we change the way the world defines and views disability by making profound, positive differences in people’s lives every day.
Easterseals NH services include autism services, inclusive child care and early intervention, special education, medical rehabilitation, camping and recreation, vocational services, senior services, substance abuse services, adult day programs, community based services, individual service options, transportation services, residential service options and veteran services.
As a leader in social services for individuals with disabilities and special needs, Easterseals NH employs more than 1,600 individuals who serve nearly 26,000 children, adults and seniors in over 90 programs throughout the state.
In addition, Easterseals NH includes Maine and Vermont. It is recognized as one of the most progressive and diverse Easterseals nationally.
Thanks to people like you, Easterseals is breaking down barriers, dispelling stereotypes, overcoming obstacles, and challenging attitudes and perceptions about people with disabilities. With your help we are able to provide New Hampshire residents of all abilities with limitless possibilities!
