Support for Mental Health research is critical in this country. The genesis of this event was from the tragic death of a young man who struggled with mental health challenges through childhood and into early adulthood. His family has created an annual fundraising event that raises over $100,000 per year. The money earned in this ride goes directly to mental health research at Harvard's McLean Hospital
This is my third year participating. Please support this great event and let's further research into mental health for all ages.
For more information on the recipient of your donations, please see see their web page for a brief description of the purpose of their research:
"McLean is home to the nation’s oldest and foremost research program in a psychiatric hospital setting, and since 1888, it has been dedicated to studying the role of biological factors in mental illness. Today, the hospital has over three acres of floor space dedicated to this important research and maintains the largest program of research in neuroscience and psychiatry of any private psychiatric hospital in the United States."
The Ride for Mental Health 2019
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
Eric's Ride Inc. is a New York not for profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. 100% of rider pledges will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
