Over the last 17 years of my life, being beside my wife has taught me a lot about mental disorders. It has made me more aware of how often people tend to ignore, be ashamed, or simple cover up all the signs and symptoms or anything related with mental illness.
This year, I'm excited to be joining the Ride for Mental Health where I will be riding along my friends of the Orange County Bicycle Club in memory of club member Glen Holt. We lost Glen just last month to a struggle with mental illness. I knew Glen from our club rides and got to know him a little, never in my mind it came across that he was struggling until the day we heard the news. That day it hit home, someone close had lost his battle. I'm not only riding for Glen, I'm riding for everyone in our immediate or not immediate circle who struggles with any sort of metal illness and to let them know we are here to help and support them.
Hope you join me by donating to this great cause
The Ride for Mental Health 2019
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
Eric's Ride Inc. is a New York not for profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. 100% of rider pledges will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
