Dear Friends and Family,
My family will be walking this year again in the name of our son, Freddy, to benefit our immediate local Down Syndrome Community in Western Mass.
When Freddy was born in 2013 our world was uncertain to say the least. Fear of the unknown and rejection filled our hearts. We listened, googled, and then we got a package in the mail from the Down Syndrome Resource Group. We slowly calmed our fears and learned there are so many of kids and adults living with Down Syndrome. There has been so many advances in human rights, medicine, and attitudes about Down Syndrome that our child can live his best life.
Freddy would go on to have heart repair surgery before 6 months and a battle with leukemia before 18 months. He is currently in remission and we hope to receive the all clear in the next year (the first 5 years after chemo is scary). Every step of the way the group has been our support.
There is never an end to our road of advocating for his rights. We believe he can live his best dignified life if we can all continue to show the world what a better place it can be with acceptance and inclusion.
Please help us. The group is entirely made of individuals, parents, and volunteers. NO ONE takes a salary or payment for the tireless work that goes into the events hosted, the workshops, and scholarships given to educcators or families.
The group can do so much because of YOUR GENEROSITY. Please know your donation is 100% tax deductible.
