Carey Family (Maeve and Mackenzie)
Thank you for visiting our pledgereg page in support of the BC Race to Educate for Saint Columbkille Partnership School. This 5k race supports St. Col's ability to offer enriching academic and extra curricular programs and to make this excellent education affordable for all.
We feel blessed to have become part of the St. Col's family. In our short time here we have witnessed and experienced teachers that are highly qualified, use relevant data to drive individualized instruction, provide 21st century learning experiences all while nurturing the spritituality of the students in the Jesuit tradition. Here is just a sample of the academic and extracurricular programs that we have experienced and loved. Starting in the 1st grade students take science class (in a science lab!) 3 days a week in which they learn through exploration and experiments. Maeve loves science and reads science books for FUN! She comes home wanting to do experiments and "teach" Mackenzie about all things science.
One of the 30+ extracurricular activities St. Cols offers is Destination Imagination where students engage in critical thinking and creative problem-solving to solve a unique challenge using Science, Technology, Engineering, Performance and Visual Arts and Mathemacs. This club further supports the work being done in the science class as well as how to use multiple disciplines to solve problems.
The music and art programs are impressive, to say the least. Mackenzie loves music!! She can't wait till she is old enough to join the choir and band. Check out the Choir at BC SIng to the Heights and the Band's Christmas Performance . She is also learning Spanish and often can be heard singing in Spanish and talking to her baby dolls in Spanish.
St. Col's is also unique and special in that it strives to stay a socioeconomic diverse school. The commitment to offer a "St.Col's" education regardless of income, requires that they furnish financial aid to more than 40% of the students. The Race to Educate helps support this mission.
Many of these experiences would not have been possible if it were not for the funds that have been raised by the Race to Educate. This is why we feel so stronlgy in supporting St. Columbkille Partnership School and we hope you will too!
Many Thanks,
Maeve, Mackenzie, Tommy, Annie and Tom
