I am running the WMass Mom's Day Half Marathon on 5/10/20!!! haha!
I am not physically running the mileage on this day, I am actually RUNNING the show. Yes, I'm the Race Director and this is my 'baby'. All of the proceeds go to Cancer Connection, seriously, ALL of them. This is the 10th year of this race...it is also MY 10th anniversary of being diagnosed with breast cancer and becoming a survivor of it as well.
10 years ago when I decided we needed a great local race - for a great local cause - I had NO idea who the people at Cancer Connection were (they actually looked at me like I was nuts suggesting it too) and I certainly had NO CLUE I'd be diagnosed exacty 3 weeks before the start of that race. I didn't share that with them until September when I finished my radiation treatments. This race is NOT about me, this race is about SO MANY people that are and will be effected - we ALL know someone who is dealing with it, has dealt with it or is about to deal with it in the future.
I want to celebrate this 10th anniversary of so many things in my life by actually fundraising for them myself!
10 years ago this race profited $2000 that I was able to hand to Cancer Connection - it was an amazing feeling! My goal is to beat that amount personally this year. I've said for 10 years..and will continue to say..."I'd Run this race if I didn't Run it!"
I will definitely run the course a bunch of times this year, I just can't fit it in on Mother's Day, I'm too busy cheering on all the fabulous people that are running and walking that day :)
Please support me and help me reach my goal. Thank you SO much!!
~Sue

A note about donations and the optional race registration fee: NO amount is too small. Please know that 100% of your donations and/or optional race registration fee will go directly to Cancer Connection Inc.
Unfortunately for many, even though much of the world has stopped, cancer has not. Comfort, connection, and strength are available today through Cancer Connection's phone and online services. This was a chance for us to pay it forward, get a run in, volunteer safely from home, and have a little bit of fun. Thank you so much for participating!
At our center on Locust Street in Northampton, people living with cancer, their families and caregivers can meet one-on-one in a comforting and welcoming environment with staff or volunteers.
