I ride Tour De Rhody to help cancer research. Riding bikes is one of my favorite things, although I prefer mountain biking! I do ask my dad why he can't make this a mountain biking ride. Even so, I am willing to ride on the road, or maybe gravel this year after practicing with NEHSCA. I can get Mark Savage to drive me if I get tired I'm sure. I'm the captain of Team Tree. Tree is what everyone called my dad's father, Paul Ollila, who died from leukemia a few years before I was born. I ride to support the research that could have helped him.

Tour De Rhody is a road and gravel cycling tour to support the Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG). Rides range from around 15 miles to closer to 50 miles with most routes all on the road, but an option to explore dirt road (gravel) riding as well.

The ride supports BrUOG, which was created in 1994 to coordinate clinical cancer research for Brown’s affiliated hospitals and Alpert Medical School. BrUOG’s main mission is to improve cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary cancer clinical trials. BrUOG provides the infrastructure for the efficient development and implementation of these trials, which are created by Brown University faculty. Learn more about BrUOG here.

In its first year in 2019, Tour De Rhody raised over $18,000 to support cancer research in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. With your support we can continue to grow!
