Welcome to my fundraiser page. I am really excited about the Ride for Ray and even more excited to have the opportunity to raise money for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Please help me reach my goal by making a donation. Every dollar helps us to get closer to finding a cure.
Thanks for any amount you are able to give.
Ride for Ray ALS Gran Fondo
The Ride for Ray Gran Fondo has two main goals. The first goal is to raise awearness and money to help find a cure for ALS. The second goal is to get outside, ride your bike, have fun, and make friends.
We have four routes to choose form so there is an option fo all leveles of riders. The 200K and 100K are for the serious cyclists who are looking for a challenge, and maybe some saddle sores. The 35 mile and 12 mile routes are for those who may just be getting into cycling, perfer to ride shorter distances, or maybe just not fans of saddle sores. Either way, there is no reason not to conme out and support a good cause while riding a bike.
The Ride for Ray started in 2017, one year after the passing of Ray Spooner. Ray Spooner, was only 57 years old. He was a husband, father, grandfather (Saba), son, brother, nurse midwife, and an avid cyclist that was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in December 2014. On his bucket list was a cross-country bicycle ride from San Diego to St. Augustine, Fl., to raise funds for ALS Awareness and Research. You can read more about Ray and that ride at https://rayslittleride.com.
In 2017, we started the Ride for Ray to honor Ray's fight against ALS by continuing what he started by riasing funds to help find a cure for this terrible disease. There are many reasons to ride. We ride for fun, we ride for fitness, we ride for a cure, but most importanly, as Ray once told me, JUST RIDE!
