Many of you know that I serve on the Board of Directors for Sunflowers to Rose Bike Tour. We are a fundraising bike tour that raises money in the fight against cancer. We are a hard working group here in KC just trying to fight an ugly fight against cancer. This year our ride has had to adapt. But as we say - COVID doesn't stop Cancer so our mission remains the same. Our ride is Sunday, August 2nd and we are hoping to have one fo the first organized charity rides of this year at an appropriate social distance. We are also really looking for more generous folks like you all to help us further our fundraising efforts. Not only am I looking for your financial commitment, but I’m looking for more volunteers, riders and FUNDRAISERS to join in with our fight. I have now been a top fundraiser for the past 8 years AND…the past years I was top 2!!! Again – thanks to all of you and I want to keep that trend going!
How can you help this year? There are so many ways – and you don’t have to pick just one!
1. I am once again raising funds in this battle. You can here or mail a check to me (made out to “Sunflowers to Roses”) if you prefer. (11505 Foster Street, Overland Park, KS 66210)
2. I ride with a sign on my back for all the survivors and current fighters as well as in memory of all who have lost a valiant fight. If you go to my donation page you can see last year’s sign. Unfortunately I have names to add this year as I am sure you all do as well. Please send me any names to add to my sign! I do this for all those who have fought or are fighting this battle and I am inspired to ride for your friends and family.
3. We need volunteers – especially before the event. Please reply to me or email [email protected] and let us know how you want to be a part of the fight.
4. Join me on the ride and for our adjusted post ride party. You can register at sunflowerestoroses.org and come out and experience how great it is! We have routes of 15, 34, 52 and 62 miles as well as 40 & 62 mile gravel routes so all levels are welcome.
Sunflowers to Rose benefits Cancer Action Kansas City. You can learn more about Cancer Action on their webpage. Bottom line, they are an amazing organization supporting Cancer Patients and their families in the Kansas City Community. I don’t know a single person that has not been touched by Cancer in some way. Maybe personally, maybe a family member, maybe a friend or co-worker. It’s an ugly disease and these two groups provide loving, caring, nurturing environments that support not just the patients but their families too.
I can’t thank you enough for your support whether it is through a donation, volunteering, riding, prayers or positive thoughts. It ALL matters and I need ALL the support I can get.
