As you all know, I love to run for a purpose or a cause that is truly meaningful for our community.
Every year, running the Mother's Day Half Marathon means the world to me. My amazing friend Sue is the race director, it always happens right around my birthday, and it supports Cancer Connection.
Many might not be aware of Cancer Connection in Northampton. This incredible organization offers a haven where people living with cancer, their families, and their caregivers can learn how to cope with their changed lives and bodies and emotional turmoil by sharing strategies and resources. All of our offerings are free of charge.
Cancer Connection is a place to find kindness, understanding, energy, laughter and respite.
Since its founding in 2000 by Deb Orgera and Jackie Walker, Cancer Connection has dedicated itself to creating a creative environment emphasizing vitality and good times rather than isolation and illness. We are able to offer our services free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the individuals, corporations and foundations that support our work
As we each focus on life during this pandemic, let's take a moment to think of all of those in our community who are trying to cope with a cancer diagnosis or treatment at the same time. As people are struggling financially, donations are more critical than ever.
Cancer Connection counts on the Mother's Day Half Marathon each year to provide them with critical funding. So even with a virtual race, I am asking everyone to find it in their hearts and wallets to support this amazing cause. All proceeds support Cancer Connection and they offer their services free of charge to make a difference in people's lives.
I will be running a 5K and then a half marathon the next day on the weekend of my 52nd birthday! If this old lady can run, all of you can donate! :)
