It took less than a year [after I came out of my hospitalization back in 1995 with an incomplete spinal cord injury] that I discovered adaptive sports and that was a true life changer in my second chance in life as many of you that know me know.
My first sport was wheelchair tennis that I played for many years also while collecting used wheelchairs to send to developing countries, then through the years I have been involved in monoskiing, 10k racing, wheelchair softball and sledge hockey and in recent years handcycling... being active as a person with a disability gave me a new purpose in life not only enjoying the benefits of health and the great outdoors, but sharing my passion with others.
For the last several years I have been working with my dear friend Mia Hansen in the non-profit organization that she founded in Tucson which has impacted many people in a very positive way: Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports, I work not only as their social media manager, but as the coordinator of our handcycling and adaptive biking program by encouraging people with disabilities to stay active through this great sport that I love and been enjoying since 2013.
I'll be riding on my third El Tour de Tucson on Team SAAS (Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports), sponsored by Ascension Wheelchair Lifts. I'm very excited and I have been training hard for it and now, I'd like to ask for your support.

Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports (SAAS) is partnering with the University of Arizona Adaptive Athletics (UAAA) and Ascension Wheelchair Lifts to support cyclists with disabilities to ride in the 2021 El Tour de Tucson. You can help raise funds for SAAS while supporting handcyclists and recumbent trikers with disabilities. SAAS is a nonprofit 501c3 that serves Southern Arizona communities through the provision and promotion of fitness, recreation, and competitive sports opportunities for people with disabilities. UAAA is the largest collegiate adaptive sports program in the U.S.
Ascension Wheelchair Lifts is a Tucson, Arizona based division of AGM Container Controls Inc., providing access worldwide and support locally.
People with disabilities often need specialized bikes to get on the road.
