Engage and empower youth through bicycles to learn practical life skills for their future

Open Roads facilitated our first bike program in 2009 with a mission to teach youth bike mechanic skills and social skills in order to better prepare them for their future.

Open Roads Bike Program embraces and values the diversity of Kalamazoo and the world around us. We are people of all ages, from all walks of life, working together to use bicycles as a vehicle for skill development and community engagement. We encourage people of all abilities, ages, economic statuses, faiths, ideologies, genders, gender identities, ethnic origins, nationalities, races, and sexual orientations to be a part of the Open Roads Bike Program community.

On Saturday, September 18, our organization will participate in a Charity Bikeathon organized by Bike Friendly Kalamazoo! We are thrilled to be one of more than a dozen non-profits taking part in this inaugural community event.

We hope you can join in the fun -- by riding for our team -- by helping us find donors -- or by donating yourself.  Please support our cause and make this a successful event.  It would be great if you could join us in the wonderful timber-framed Vicksburg Community Pavilion, right next to the grounds of the lovingly maintained and curated Vicksburg Historic Village.

Our charity is taking advantage of Bike Friendly Kalamazoo's experience as a fellow non-profit to make our participation in this fun fundraiser a success and to help us raise funds during challenging times.

Putting this event together is Bike Friendly Kalamazoo's way of giving back to the community.  PledgeReg is providing our Participating Charities with third party convenience and transparency via their event platform.  Transactions using PledgeReg will be acknowledged by the overall Event Organizer, Bike Friendly Kalamazoo, using auto-generated messages and displays.  PledgeReg automatically includes BFK's name and tax ID on certain emails and communications.  Please be assured that support of YOUR designated charities is being tracked and publicly displayed.
