Welcome to my fund raising page friends and family! On Saturday August 7th I am traveling to Middletown Springs, VT with my cycling team to cycle in a fundraiser cycling event for the day named Tour de Slate. I'm very excited to raise money for a cause that I believe in. Addiction to alcohol and drugs has affected all of our lives and my team and I want to do our part to fight this and to save and to renew lives of affliction.
Why Teen Challenge?
Vermont has one of the the highest illicit drug usage rates in the nation.
How can you/we help end addiction?

According to some surveys,Teen Challenge is the most successful drug and alcohol abuse recovery program in the nation. It is totally funded by private donations and other fund raising events. Teen Challenge, VT receives no government tax funding!

Teen Challenge has a three pronged approach to ending addiction:
1.Their End Addiction campaign brings a substance abuse prevention presentation to schools, youth groups or community events. It is interactive, multi-media and includes real stories of people who have overcome addiction.
2.The traditional Teen Challenge residential program for men is the most successful (for those who complete the program) drug and alcohol addiction recovery program in the country.
3. Teen Challenge, VT has opened a women's facility where abused and addicted women can find refuge. It is awesome and totally remodeled and functional. It is safe, warm and provides a loving home where the guest residents can embark on a new life!

Tour de Slate
The Tour de Slate is a fully supported fund raising bike ride. The Tour is made up of five different rides all designed to provide an enjoyable cycling experience no matter what your level of experience. The most challenging rides, for avid road cyclists are 100 mile and metric century(100km, 63.4 mi) rides. Also a 36mi, a 25 mi and a family ride(off road on a trail) ensures that there is a ride suitable for everyone. The Tour de Slate is aptly named as it tours the world reknowned slate valley of western Vermont and bordering NY state. The beneficiary of the ride is Teen Challenge, VT. All net proceeds will be donated to that organization. Teen Challenge, VT is, according to some surveys, the most successful drug and alcohol addiction recovery program in the nation. It is a 15 month residency program and no one is refused admitance because of lack of funds. It is totally funded by private donations and funding. Teen Challenge, VT receives no government tax funding!
The Tour de Slate's primary purpose is to raise funds in the effort to combat drug and alcohol addiction. All net proceeds will be donated to Teen Challenge, VT. Teen Challenge, VT runs a 15 month residential program providing drug and alcohol addiction recovery and rehabilitation. They also, through their End Addiction program, bring substance abuse prevention presentations to schools, youth groups or community events. Teen Challenge, VT has recently opened a women's facility where abused and addicted women can find refuge. Important to note; no one is turned away from Teen Challenge because of lack of funds.
