On April 7, 2021, during our spring break trip, our 10 year old daughter, Ellie, had a tonic clonic (grand mal) seizure in Richfield, Utah. The seizure started while she was asleep in the early morning, the seizure lasted about 5 minutes and afterwards she wasn't breathing and was unresponsive; Scott started CPR to save her life. Our eldest son, Jay, called 911, and because we were in a hotel and neighbors heard the commotion, strangers came to our aid to help us and Ellie. God was truly watching over us and we are forever thankful to everyone who came to our side. The paramedics arrived and we waited 35 minutes for Ellie to regain consciousness. She was then transported by ambulance to the local hospital. All tests in the emergency room came back clear and normal. When we returned to Atlanta, we followed up with a pediatric neurologist, on June 7, Ellie was diagnosed with primary generalized epilepsy due to an abnormal EEG. With the assistance of modern medication, she hasn't had any more seizures to date. We will continue to monitor Ellie with regular follow ups with her neurologist and do all we can to raise awareness of epilepsy.  Ellie's spirits remain positive and she has been such a brave warrior.

Our family has decided to participate in the 2021 Magnolia Run on August 21, to help raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia. We hope you are able to contribute to this worthy cause, and please know any amount helps makes a BIG difference! Through fundraisers like the Magnolia Run. the Epilepsy Foundation of Gerogia is able to provide vital services and programs to the epilepsy community statewide.

Thank you for your support!

With love,
The Marcille Family
