Welcome to my fundraising page for Tour De Rhody. My name is Angelo Giannopoulos, and I am currently a junior at Brown University studying Biology with future aspirations in the medical field. Biking has always been a great source of balance in my life, as well as a calming, yet challenging activity. With the proceeds going towards the Brown University Oncology Department, I will be riding with an increased feeling of accomplishment and inspiration. I am so proud to have the opportunity to join the bike race here in Rhode Island and complete the 45 mile route. Thank you for your support in my race and, more importantly, for your donation to lifesaving research.
Tour De Rhody #3
Tour De Rhody is a road and gravel cycling tour to support the Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG). Rides range from around 15 miles to a full metric gravel century. Routes can be challenging and explore historic areas around the Scituate reservoir typically closed off to the public.
The ride supports BrUOG, which was created in 1994 to coordinate clinical cancer research for Brown’s affiliated hospitals and Alpert Medical School. BrUOG’s main mission is to improve cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary cancer clinical trials. BrUOG provides the infrastructure for the efficient development and implementation of these trials, which are created by Brown University faculty. Learn more about BrUOG here.
In its first year in 2019, Tour De Rhody raised over $18,000 to support cancer research and in 2020 over $50,000. With your support we can continue to grow.
Tour De Rhody began in 2019 as a road and gravel ride to support the Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG) which coordinates clinical cancer research for Brown’s affiliated hospitals and Alpert Medical School faculty. In our first year we raised over $18,000 to support local cancer research and care. Despite COVID in 2020 we blew this away raising over $50,000 and we plan to grow every year. Please join us through riding, volunteering or supporting us as we bring better and innovative cancer care to Rhode Islanders and beyond.
