Welcome friends, family, and colleagues to my mini-fundraiser for Tour de Rhody!
I am participating in the 2021Tour De Rhody in honor of my mother, Rhoda Ann Dellecave. I am unofficially calling my solo ride--Team R.A.D.
On September 20, 2020, my dear mother Rhoda, passed away from an aggressive form of metastatic cancer. Over her not-nearly-long-enough years of life, we would jokingly and in jest refer to RHODA as RHODY. The timing of this ride that bears her moniker is uncanny.
In honor of the one-year anniversary of her death, I will ride in her name. Exercise, intellectualism, and kindness are all things that I am grateful my mother passed along to me. Raising money for Brown University Oncology Research Group encompasses all of these shared attributes.
I'm excited to challenge myself on the hills of northwestern Rhode Island in support of local cancer research with global impact the Brown University Oncology Research Group.
I hope you are able to contribute in support of my ride. Any amount is appreciated!
Thinking of you and loving you on this day, Mom!
Donations accepted until September 19th.
Tour De Rhody #3
Tour De Rhody is a road and gravel cycling tour to support the Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG). Rides range from around 15 miles to a full metric gravel century. Routes can be challenging and explore historic areas around the Scituate reservoir typically closed off to the public.
The ride supports BrUOG, which was created in 1994 to coordinate clinical cancer research for Brown’s affiliated hospitals and Alpert Medical School. BrUOG’s main mission is to improve cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary cancer clinical trials. BrUOG provides the infrastructure for the efficient development and implementation of these trials, which are created by Brown University faculty. Learn more about BrUOG here.
In its first year in 2019, Tour De Rhody raised over $18,000 to support cancer research and in 2020 over $50,000. With your support we can continue to grow.
Tour De Rhody began in 2019 as a road and gravel ride to support the Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG) which coordinates clinical cancer research for Brown’s affiliated hospitals and Alpert Medical School faculty. In our first year we raised over $18,000 to support local cancer research and care. Despite COVID in 2020 we blew this away raising over $50,000 and we plan to grow every year. Please join us through riding, volunteering or supporting us as we bring better and innovative cancer care to Rhode Islanders and beyond.
