Dear Friends and Family,
Welcome to my fundraising page. I’m very excited to raise money for prostate cancer awareness educations and support programs. This is a cause I believe in and hope you can contribute.
Many men are not fully aware of their prostate health or what treatment options may be available if they should be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
I’m committed to raising money for prostate cancer awareness programs.
I'm participating in this year’s PCAA-DMV Prostate Cancer Awareness Bike/Run/Walk Virtual Challenge Event and would love your support in my fundraising efforts! My goal this year is to raise $100 or more while doing a healthy bike/run/walk between September 17-30, 2021.
Prostate cancer is the second highest cause of death for men in the United States - behind lung cancer. In 2021, the American Cancer Society estimates there will be over 248,530 cases and 34,130 deaths attributed to prostate cancer. The number of cases and deaths among African American men is almost two to one.
Believe it or not, participating in a healthy awareness event like this could be the answer to bring more focus to prostate cancer and prostate health. I'd really appreciate your support in my fundraising efforts.
Your tax-deductible contribution will help the Prostate Cancer Awareness Alliance-DMV fund educational, informational sessions, and life-changing awareness programs for men and their families who may be newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. Together, we can get a GRIP on prostate cancer.
Thank you so much for your contributions and support!
PCAA-DMV Prostate Cancer Bike/Run/Walk Virtual Challenge Event
The Prostate Cancer Awareness Alliance – District of Columbia, Maryland, & Virginia (PCAA-DMV) is hosting our first virtual fundraiser - "PCAA-DMV Prostate Cancer Awareness Bike/Run/Walk Virtual Challenge Event" between September 17-30, 2021. September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and while we want to spread the word as widely as possible, considering the pandemic, we want to do it safely. PCAA-DMV is sponsoring a virtual bike / run / walk event which means you can participate wherever you are, alone, with friends/family, or community. We are asking each participant to raise at least $100 or more during September.
The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of proactive prostate health, education, cancer treatments, and advocacy through alliances and partnerships for men, their families, and our communities.
PCAA-DMV launched in 2020. Since then, our organization has connected with more than 300 men and their families to help increase understanding about prostate cancer treatment options and support services within the DMV region. We have also helped connect men with prostate cancer survivors and support groups which allows information sharing and comfort in knowing they don’t have to travel the prostate cancer survivor’s journey alone. And more importantly, there is life after prostate cancer.
Your registration fee includes a tee-shirt and a medallion. We are requesting a minimum $100 donation to help us continue our educational events and prostate cancer survivor stories for our prostate cancer awareness programs and support sessions. Our goal is to increase prostate health/cancer education for more men and their families.
