Greetings to all my friends and family and others whom I haven't met yet. I am super excited to be able to ride in the El Tour de Tucson road ride. El Tour de Tucson is a 501(c)3 non-profit that rides to support charities, community, health and wellness. We create a Life Changing Experience for all of Life's Cycles.
Since 1983 more than 100 local, national, and international non-profit charities have raised over $101 million for their own organizations and causes.
I chose to ride in this event because we all have friends and family who, in one way or another, have experienced some sort of health-related illness. For me, this is personal as my Mom, after having beaten breast cancer back in 2005, recently passed from another form of cancer in September of this year.
The form of cancer my Mom had was very rare. Her team of doctors at MD Anderson Houston and Gilbert locations and other locations, have never seen this kind of cancer before. Therefore, all treatment my Mom was willing to try were all experimental. After a year of stop and start attempts, Mom decided she had enough.
Exhausted but encouraged, Mom lived her final days gracefully. She passed on September 10, 2021.
As I reflect over her life and the lives of others, i am reminded of just how precious all lives are, especially that of our children.
Therefore, I want to dedicate this ride to my Mom. And in honor of my Mom and her strength, I want to raise funds for Banner Children's Medical Center. Mom knows how much I love kids. She also knows how important it is to keep fighting the good fight with all that we have even if that requires medical intervention.
Please, join me in raising funds that go toward a worthy cause, and my heart: Children.
