Welcome to our fundraising page for the WAIM Walk for Warmth!
Did you know that many of our low-income neighbors are spending over 10% of their household income to heat their home?
On top of that, heating costs are predicted to increase up to 30% this year as the economy works to recover from the pandemic.
Many of these families are forced to choose between paying rent, feeding their families or keeping their heat on.
WAIM has been helping people stay warm and safe for over twenty-five years and we are very excited to help them help our neighbors in memory of Eileen Ossen. You can help, too, by supporting our efforts in this year's Walk for Warmth.
Anything you can give to support this effort will be greatly appreciated.
WAIM Walk for Warmth
WAIM's annual Walk for Warmth brings our community together to raise funds for our neighbors who are struggling financially and cannot afford to pay for heat or electricity. Each year, WAIM helps over 200 families who might be left out in the cold were it not for the support of their friends, neighbors, and WAIM.
As we slowly recover from the effects of the pandemic, WAIM is providing the opportunity for our supporters to walk together on November 21. We will meet in Jillson Square and walk a two-mile route around Willimantic. Those who are still uncomfortable in a crowd or would rather walk alone, or with family or friends at a different time can still do so, and raise funds for the Walk for Warmth.
100% of funds raised will go directly to help our neighbors when they are most in need.
Walk for Warmth is an annual charity event sponsored by the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry to raise funds for the Energy and Housing Assistance Programs. This year will mark our 30th Anniversary of raising funds from our community to help meet our neighbors' needs when they are struggling.
Many low-income families are spending more than 10% of their household income to heat their home in addition to rent and other utilities. On top of that, heating costs are predicted to increase up to 30% this year as we are facing difficult economic times, rents are skyrocketing and many families are still catching up from loss of income during COVID. Your gift will help us keep our neighbors safely housed and warm.
Last year, over 200 families were helped. We anticipate that the need will be even greater this year.
Thank you very much for your support!
