Hello! Thank you for coming to my personal fundraising page...by donating to my fundraiser, not only will you be supporting me on this winter adventure, but your donation will go towards making the Catamount Trail more accessible to all Vermonters.
The last two years have been so difficult and exhausting, and I find myself now, reaching for bits of joy where I can find them. The woods in the winter is one of the most heartening places for me.
So, what is the Catamount Trail you ask? The Catamount Trail is 300+ miles of trail that goes the length of Vermont—from Massachusetts to Quebec.
As someone who loves Vermont and loves to cross-country ski (especially away from all other people) I use these backcountry trails often. It is my starting place for most of my winter adventures.
So, what is the challenge? I will be skiing 11-28 km in Craftsbury on March 13th. But more importantly, to prepare for that day over the next couple of months, I will be skiing various pieces of the Catamount trail and—to add to the fun—draw my own “fantastical” maps of those adventures. I will send anyone who donates (or supports me in some other lovely way), one of my maps.
Anyway, I hope you will help me support this amazing resource we have in Vermont. Your donation will go directly to maintaining the beautiful Catamount Trail and making sure that accessible programs exist to get all Vermonters out and into the woods.
Also, if you can’t donate but are interested in supporting me in this adventure or checking out the trails join me on one or some of these trails this winter!
2022 CATGUT
The CATGUT (Catamount Grand Ultimate Tour) is a skate or classic ski touring experience for all ages and abilities, and it's an opportunity to give back to the backcountry community and support the CTA and our chapters. The CTA has spent the last 37 years facilitating life-changing winter experiences, and working to protect and expand access to Vermont's mountain lands. This work enhances everyone's quality of life, and is one of the many reasons Vermont is such a wonderful place to spend time whether you call it home, or are just visiting.
The Catamount Trail Association is a member and donor supported organization, and 100% of the funds raised through this event will go to support the CTA's work caring for the world's longest backcountry ski trail, development and maintenance of our chapter-managed backcountry zones, and will help us continue expanding our youth programing which is slated to serve over 1000 young skiers (many first-timers) this season.
The Catamount Trail is a 300 mile long backcountry ski trail that runs the entire length of Vermont from Massachusetts all the way to Canada. It’s totally free to use and is one of Vermont’s most unique recreational assets. From easy cruising through the woods to exhilarating descents in waist deep powder, there’s something for everyone on the Catamount Trail.
In addition to managing the trail corridor, the Catamount Trail Association also organizes a large selection of backcountry tours, is involved in the conservation and protection of Vermont's mountain lands, and runs a number of youth programs serving well over 1000 kids each season. We want people to embrace winter and all of the great experiences it provides. So, whether you’re just learning how to ski or have been shredding the gnar for years we can help you have more fun!
