Red Team
Red Team is comprised of Master Chief (Ret) Rick Kaiser, his wife Barbara Kaiser, Jim Shafer and wife Helen Shafer. We all have been with Phil and Julie Taub and SEAL Team New Hampshire from the beginning which has only been 4 years. The incredible impact Swim with a Mission has had on Veteran Programs in New Hampshire and Nationwide and to the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum has been awe inspiring and deeply respected by the Navy Special Warfare community at large and to each of the programs SWAM supports. It goes without saying that Red Teams involvement and dedication to SWAM and SEAL Team New Hampshire is just a small way of saying Thank You and to participate in supporting NSW and the men and women and families of our veterans. It is an honor to be part of this effort.
Red Team is being paired with the Fisher House of Boston. Fisher House Boston provides a safe and comfortable lodging for veterans, service members and their families while they are receiving treatment at the VA Medical Center West Roxbury Campus, or any of the world renowned Boston hospitals.
The Fisher House Boston is there to serve those who have served and to ease the burden of our Veterans and their families during difficult times. The mission of Fisher House is to be responsive to the needs of guests and go above and beyond what the VA can provide. They strive to meet the basic comfort needs of their guests, during some of the most difficult times in the lives of their guests, as well as, enhance the healing and supportive environment of the house. Additionally, for those requiring medical attention that can only be provided by the Boston based hospitals, The Fisher House Boston will enable you to stay in a Boston hotel until the medical necessity has been satisfied.
Fisher House Boston was the 46th Fisher house built and dedicated. The first two Fisher Houses, designed and built by the Fishers, opened in 1991 – at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. From 1990 through 1998, all Fisher Houses were given as gifts to the U.S. Government by the Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Armed Services Foundation. In 1999, the Fisher House Foundation began to build new Fisher Houses. Fisher House Founder and Chairman, Zachary Fisher, passed away on June 4, 1999. At the time of Zachary’s death, there were 26 Fisher Houses. The phenomenal growth of Fisher Houses and the unprecedented support received is testimony to the foresight of founders Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher and the commitment of Zachary’s family to continue his legacy. The houses truly are “dedicated to our greatest national treasure… our military service men and women and their loved ones.”There are currently 71 Fisher Houses located around the country and in the UK.
All the money raised by Red team will go to this fabulous organization!!
Swim With A Mission
The 4th Annual Swim With A Mission, an Open Water Swim Race and Festival was scheduled for Saturday, July 11th at Wellington State Park in Bristol NH. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we have shifted our event to a Virtual Event. We would much rather have our live event and are disappointed about the change but we know that it is necessary at this point. Even in these tough times, we hope you will help us stay true to our mission to raise money to help Veterans and inspire others to help.
Virtual Events are open to everyone and will take place from July 1-31. Participants can choose to swim (1K, 5K or 10K), paddle (1K, 5K or 10K) or take on the SEAL Team NH Challenge. All participants are encouraged to raise funds that will go to our Veterans who need our help more than ever. Swimmers can also choose to swim more than once during the month of July and they will be able to record distances and times. Go to www.swimwithamission.org for more details.
Swimming With A Mission Inc.
Since our formation in 2017, we have donated over $8 million to honor and support local, regional and national veteran support organizations that provide critical services to our Veterans. These include supporting Veteran organizations that provide housing, take care of our homeless, support day to day services, provide service and support K-9’s, scholarships, jobs, create equine immersion programs and support art programs. Please explore www.swam.org to get more details about how you can get involved with us and our mission.
