Fl1pper
Team Fl1pper will be raising money for Hidden Battles. Hidden Battles is a non-profit organization that strives to help preserve the healthy minds of Military Service Members, Veterans, Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, Dispatch, and Nursing through treatment and counseling for depression, suicidal tendencies, and PTSD. Our defenders are absorbing the horrors of their occupations and many struggle with the hidden battles fought in their minds on a daily basis. Whether it is the horrors of war, personal injury or a fatal car crash, the effects are everlasting. Over the course of their careers, the stress piles up to sometimes a fatal level.
Our returning soldiers, fire fighters, police officers and other first responders need an outlet. Whether it is a peer group, a service dog or team building therapy, Hidden Battles works to provide them with the programs and services that will protect them from internal harm. The primary goal is to raise awareness of suicide related deaths in our defenders of freedom and public safety. The cause of these deaths are often related to mental health issues stemming from Post-Traumatic Stress, job related stress, traumatic brain injuries and the daily struggle of separating military service and adjusting back to civilian life.
Hidden Battles, in partnership with both veteran and civilian organizations, offer monthly, confidential, meetings amongst peers, in a safe environment, that help our defenders to work to cope with internal struggles. Through a military type “buddy system”, Hidden Battles works to make sure you are not alone in your battle. They provide workshops for not only our defenders but for the families and friends of those suffering or have lost loved ones to suicide.
Hidden Battles hosts community events in partnership with other related organizations to raise awareness and prevention, because as a community it is our duty to keep our defenders safe. In the near future Hidden Battles will offer scholarships to qualified applicants to attend continuing education on mental illness. In partnership with local summer camps, it is the goal to send surviving children of those lost to suicide to activity driven camps. Funds will also be donated to local Service Dog organizations to assist with providing service dogs to those in need.
All money raised by this team will go to Hidden Battles.
Swim With A Mission
The 4th Annual Swim With A Mission, an Open Water Swim Race and Festival was scheduled for Saturday, July 11th at Wellington State Park in Bristol NH. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we have shifted our event to a Virtual Event. We would much rather have our live event and are disappointed about the change but we know that it is necessary at this point. Even in these tough times, we hope you will help us stay true to our mission to raise money to help Veterans and inspire others to help.
Virtual Events are open to everyone and will take place from July 1-31. Participants can choose to swim (1K, 5K or 10K), paddle (1K, 5K or 10K) or take on the SEAL Team NH Challenge. All participants are encouraged to raise funds that will go to our Veterans who need our help more than ever. Swimmers can also choose to swim more than once during the month of July and they will be able to record distances and times. Go to www.swimwithamission.org for more details.
Swimming With A Mission Inc.
Since our formation in 2017, we have donated over $8 million to honor and support local, regional and national veteran support organizations that provide critical services to our Veterans. These include supporting Veteran organizations that provide housing, take care of our homeless, support day to day services, provide service and support K-9’s, scholarships, jobs, create equine immersion programs and support art programs. Please explore www.swam.org to get more details about how you can get involved with us and our mission.
