I am so excited to be participating in the 6th Annual Swim With A Mission. As part of this event I am raising money for Veterans and I will also be swimming in memory of a fallen soldier from NH. I am swimming 10k virtually from July 2-14(total of 10k) and then will be volunteering at the live event. I am swimming in memory of William "Blake" Marston who died on 1/10/2015 in a parachute training exercise. After graduating from Stonehill College in 2007, Blake took a part-time job and spent a year getting in shape to pass the Navy SEAL training. For every 10 who enter, 8 don't make it. After collapsing from dehydration in one one of his first tests, he could have given up but didn't and officially became a Navy SEAL in 2009. Blake believed "JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE PREPARING FOR WAR DOES NOT MEAN YOU CANNOT WORK FOR PEACE". I am inspired by Blake's message and his and his family's sacrifice to our country. I wish I could be as tough as him in a minor way to brave the cold waters of Newfound Lake. But, since I don't want to detract from the event in need of a rescue due to hypothermia, I am doing a virtual swim and will be volunteering at the live event. I will work on my cold tolerance for next year. Please help me reach my fundraising goal. Any amount will make a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families. The money that is raised will go to worthy Veteran service organizations both locally and nationally. Go to http://www.swam.org to learn more about the organizations that Swim With A Mission supports. Since 2017 Swim With A Mission has donated over $7 million for Veterans through a variety of events including this swim event.
Thank you.
