My name is Ken F. I am a son, brother, uncle, cousin and a proud father of two beautiful daughters. God gave me a God fearing, Bible believing family that I am blessed to be a part of and supported by. I made the mistake when life got hard to turn to the temptations of the world by myself and very quickly ruined all the blessings and relationships in my life. I allowed satan to control my life with alcohol, and for the last 5 years this addiction stripped my life of all that I had worked so hard for and what God had blessed me with. I lost jobs, my home, cars, wife and the trust of my daughters and family. I was forced to go into hospitals and detoxes a dozen times as well as six secular rehab programs. These programs were my “quick fix” to my addiction and my life, but I failed again every time I completed one of these programs. I realized that I could not heal any of my pain or depression with alcohol any longer and that I needed to run back to God, the one that had given me all I had before I ran away from him and his plan for my life. My family and I thought it was best for me to get away from my home in NJ and come to VT Teen Challenge so that I could humble myself before God and seek the calling I knew he had on my life. I am now 7 months into my new relationship with Jesus and he has given me so much healing spiritually, mentally and physically since I got to VT. I am so grateful that God led me to Teen Challenge VT, a place where I could get the help and support, I needed to get back to God and his will for my life! My family is so proud of me, and my daughters will have a Godly father back in their lives from this moment on!

The Tour de Slate is a fully supported fund raising bike ride. The Tour is made up of five different rides all designed to provide an enjoyable cycling experience no matter what your level of experience. The most challenging rides, cyclists a  metric century(100km, 63.4 mi) rides and a 36 mile groad ride. Also a  36mi, a 25 mi and a family ride(off road on a trail) ensures that there is a ride suitable for everyone. The Tour de Slate is aptly named as it tours the world reknowned slate valley of western Vermont and bordering NY state. The beneficiary of the ride is Teen Challenge, VT. All net proceeds will be donated to that organization. Teen Challenge, VT is, according to some surveys, the most successful drug and alcohol addiction recovery program in the nation. It is a 15 month residency program and no one is refused admitance because of lack of funds. It is totally funded by private donations and funding. Teen Challenge, VT receives no government tax funding!

The jersey and free ride incentives remain unchanged but there has been added a new prize that will awarded to the highest individual rider fundraiser. This contest will end on the day of the ride. The prize will be announced at the ride.

The Tour de Slate's primary purpose is to raise funds in the effort to combat drug and alcohol addiction. All net proceeds will be donated to Teen Challenge, VT. Teen Challenge, VT runs a 15 month residential program providing drug and alcohol addiction recovery and rehabilitation. They also, through their End Addiction program, bring substance abuse prevention presentations to schools, youth groups or community events. Teen Challenge, VT has recently opened a women's facility where abused and addicted women can find refuge. Important to note; no one is turned away from Teen Challenge because of lack of funds. Teen Challenge, VT does not receive any tax raised money. Your donation is tax deductable. The 501(c)3 corp is Tour de Slate Inc.
