Thanks for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run/Walk fundraising page! THIS SUNDAY, on December 2, my family and I will once again be walking in this year’s Hot Chocolate Run/Walk. This fun, 'pay it forward' event has been my requested family birthday celebration since it began on my birthday 9 years ago (photo from 2009--Jonah is much taller than me now...!), as it raises funds for Safe Passage, the organization that addresses domestic violence here in Hampshire County.
I hope you’ll make a donation--in honor of my birthday, or any other honor/memorial contribution that feels meaningful to you--and help me meet my fundraising goal of $520 (since I'll be 52 on 12/1...). Safe Passage relies on support from people like us to fund their programming--including an emergency shelter program, individual counseling and support groups, legal services, a 24-hour hotline and more. Here are some examples of what these services cost:
$20: Emergency funds for a woman to purchase groceries or diapers
$45: A one-hour counseling session for a woman seeking help for the first time
$80: One weekly drop-in group session for survivors of domestic violence
$100: An hour of ASL interpreting for a deaf survivor's counseling session
$135: Three sessions for children who have witnessed domestic violence
$500: A month of on-call advocacy for victims of domestic violence police calls
Contributions of any size are truly appreciated, all donations are fully tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an e-mailed receipt immediately after you donate. If you prefer to donate by check, please make it out to Safe Passage, put my name as the fundraiser in the memo line, and mail to: Safe Passage, 43 Center St., Suite 304, Northampton MA 01060.
Thank you SO much for your support! It truly means a lot. If you want to register for the event or learn more about it, visit http://hotchocolaterun.com.
With gratitude for a warm, safe home and another year to celebrate,
Randi (and Jonah and Scott, who have been great supporters of this event throughout).
