Eagle Soccer
Many Eagle Soccer families know Sheri and Phil Vanderlugt and their sons, Alec and Reed, who played in our program in recent years. We've been inspired by their example of GRIT as Sheri has lived with ALS for more than a decade. Last year Phil founded PedALS, and several Eagle Soccer families participated in the inaugural event.
The first PedALS was a huge success! This year we are hoping to build on that momentum and continue the connection between our program and the important work of the Susan Mast ALS Foundation which comes alongside families like the Vanderlugts who are living with ALS.
Coach Dershem is encouraging players to volunteer on the morning of the event, and we'd love to see parents get involved as well as riders, walkers, and donors. Please consider making a gift on this Eagle Soccer team page or joining this team if you register to ride or walk.
Any amount that you are able to give will provide real, tangible help including:
- support groups
- training and respite for caregivers
- funding for accessibility projects like ramps and bathroom remodels
Thank you!

Join us for a 25 or 50 mile road ride, 25 mile gravel ride, 10-20 mile mountain bike ride or a 1 mile walk to raise money for ALS patients and their families in West Michigan!
Susan Mast ALS Foundation
We are here because every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes someone dies from ALS.
At this time, there is no cure or treatment for ALS...
At the Susan Mast ALS Foundation, we help families that live with ALS today.
The vision of the Susan Mast ALS Foundation is to build a strong foundation to ensure all ALS patients and families have the much needed support, guidance and resources available to them today and years to come. We strive to strengthen and build our relationships with community partners so we can continue our mission of providing excellent support to ALS patients, families and caregivers in all of West Michigan.
