Heya folks, how goes it? I won't be doing the ride this year due to other joyous personal events that I must attend. This is the only fundraiser I do, and on occasion ask for a donation. (Yes, I'm a fan of the Oxford comma.)

Frankly speaking, the ride should in theory be inconsequential to the donation but people like this set-up so we do it. *shrug* 

With that being said, if we i.e., you (heh!) need a "ride" or some other feat of perseverance as a motivating factor to send a few pennies, I did do a 305 mile ride in Prospect Park (91 laps, 16:49:12 moving time, 19:41:01 total time) having in mind to use it as an ex post facto fundraiser ride if I managed to hit 300 miles.

That's almost 20 hours in the park and nearly 17 hours of pedaling a bicycle solo with almost no support and absolutely no prep. 

My nutritionist was the hot dog vendor whom I prepaid (twice) during the day for beverages in advance and he would pass me drinks as requested/needed so I wouldn’t have to waste time standing in line, and allowed me to fill my bottle up quickly and keep on moving.

I beat the longest publically known officially recorded (single day) ride in the park by over 104 miles and it is the current officially logged single day mileage record in Prospect Park. Eeesh!)

I know the organizer, he's a local and many other participants are as well. Since I can't participate this year I'd ike to help them out in another way... which is you sending money. :)

The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse.  Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.

We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start.  Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
