Annually we place over $10,000 in the Scholarship Fund allowing us to offset program fees, assist with travel expenses, or even provide free loaner bikes. Two great examples of Scholarship Fund success: a few seasons back we had a talented rider who couldn’t join the cyclocross team because of finances and lack of a bike. We provided a scholarship which included a bike, travel expenses, and program fees. Four months later the athlete ended up on the National Team representing the USA (and BJC) at the World Championships! That success led to additional international racing opportunities and scholarships for that rider. This past year several riders and coaches were greatly impacted by the devastating Louisville Fire. For those affected BJC was able to provide fee scholarships, loaner bikes, and equipment: both examples that would not have happened without the Scholarship Fund.
I am also proud of BJc's efforts to get and keep more girls on the team! In 2019, with funding assistance from the Bike-a-Thon, BJC launched the BJC Female Initiative Program. This program has more than doubled the number of female riders in BJC, and additionally has allowed us to recruit and train some amazing female coaches and mentors. During any given season, female coaches make up 45-55% of our entire coaching staff.

2022 BJC Bike-a-thon
Boulder Junior Cycling is excited to announce our annual Bike-a-Thon fundraiser! This is a campaign where kids raise money to support their team while testing their skills and endurance on a fun and challenging course.
Community organizations like BJC play an important role in shaping our youth, teaching life lessons, and improving health. Fundraising campaigns are an essential part of BJC’s work.
The money we raise will help us:
– Award additional scholarships to low-income families
– Provide a higher level of training to further develop our coaching staff
– Expand and diversify our award-winning cycling curriculum

Boulder Junior Cycling (BJC) is a year-round cycling program in Boulder, Colorado whose mission is to develop, coach and inspire junior cycling athletes. BJC was founded in 2006 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. BJC provides programs for all abilities in Road Cycling, Mountain Biking, and Cyclocross for ages 6-18+. BJC offers a professional coaching staff that brings a high level of training and experience to the program. Our athletes are both recreational riders and competitive racers who have won state and national championships. BJC has been designated a “Center of Excellence” for junior development by USA Cycling every year since 2008.
This is a campaign where kids raise money to support their team while testing their skills and endurance on a fun and challenging course.
Our fundraising goal this year is $20,000. To reach this goal, BJC athletes are encouraged to collect donations from their community.
Athletes age 8+ in all BJC programs are encouraged to participate.
Athletes can earn sweet prizes by raising money. The more they raise, the more prizes they can win.
