Hello there! Looks like you have found your way to my fundraiser page! Here's a little info about the event that I am planning on riding and the organization supporting me.
In September I was invited by a friend to ride "El Tour de Tucson." A 100-something mile group ride? race? Im still not really sure but its a huge cycling event thats happening in Tucson, AZ on the 19th of November. I have not ridden in this event before but it is getting cold in Michigan, so of course I was down for this expirence! My friend pointed me in the direction of Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports and they were happy to help with registration, logistics and parking and even offered lodging in an effort to make el tour more accessible for me.
Here is their mission statement:
Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports, is driven by a single goal; to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage in recreational and competitive sports. SAAS is a nonprofit 501c3 organization. Our mission is to support the community through promotion and provision of fitness, recreation, and competitive sports opportunities for people with disabilities.
They provide support to athletes in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis by offering certified coaching and loaner equipmenet and opportunities to compete. They also have the largest adaptive cycling program in Arizona which offers orientation and training to newcomers as well as loaner cycles for group riding or indepent use. There are way more things that they do for adaptive sports in Arizona but I wont take up any more of your time. Please feel free to donate to a great cause!
Thanks!
-Matt
