Deciding to ride Mt. Washington for the first time 13 years ago was my pathway to recovery from a collection of devastating injuries and losses.  My Mt. Washington story is here .  But it is way bigger than that.  Natural areas, mountains, seashores, forests, bogs... are critical to the health of the planet and helps us all, I believe, be better humans.  Tin Mountain Conservation Center is a terrific organization which has provided environmental education to over 75,000 students, campers, and individuals throughout schools and communities in Northern New Hampshire and western Maine for over 34 years.

August 19th, 2023 is the 50th anniversary of the race and I think my 14th. Each year the slope seems a bit steeper and the mountain a bit bigger, but the SATISFACTION has grown more INTENSE.  My Mt. Washington experience inspired me to launch a campaign to help older athletes and women stay in the game longer - which is ultimately a campaign for a healthier society.  You can read my PLATFORM HERE. Not looking for money - just activism.  When I was young, I thought,  "I could'a been a contender" but I never was.  In my 50's I found my niche and became the undefeated Age Group winner since 2013 and hold some cycling records. It is never too late. But it doesn't need to be about competition - it can be just about joy, health, community & the great outdoors!  Just those small things.

I love this mountain!  Love the White Mountains.  Actually, I have never met a mountain I don't like.  Please help protect them!

PS I am giving a set of note cards including this painting of Mt. Washington , as a thank you for donations of $100.  Feel free to contact me directly:  [email protected] or through my artist webstie:  www.lighteffectstudio.com.

And another suggestion for you... come to the White Mountains in August and get yourself to the finish line on the 19th! It is HUGE FUN.

Thank you!
