Thanks to everyone who helped me meet my
first goal of $200 in just ONE DAY!
Thanks for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run fundraising page! On December 2, I'm running in this year’s Hot Chocolate Run. This great event raises funds for Safe Passage, the organization addressing domestic violence in Hampshire County, Massachusetts.
THIS IS MY FIRST EVER RUN!!!
I never thought I would do this! I was inspired to start running by my friend Corinne. She and her teammates trained for a 1/2 marathon and raised over $20,000 for the Lukemia and Lymphoma society. I've walked in the Hot Chocolate Run in the past but this time I've been training and now I'm GOING FOR IT!
I'm running to honor my mom, Barbara Hendry, who passed away last September from cancer. She was a survivor of domestic violence and an extremely strong, brave woman. I think she would think it was pretty cool that I'm doing this. I honestly don't know what would have happened to me, my mom and brother if we were unable to access the kind of resources and support that Safe Passage provides. That was over 20 years ago and across the country, but this work is just as vital today, here and now.
I hope you’ll make a donation and help me meet my fundraising goal. Safe Passage relies on support from people like us
to fund their programming--including an emergency shelter program, individual counseling and support groups, legal services, a 24-hour hotline and more.
Here are some examples of what these services cost:
Emergency funds for a woman to purchase groceries or diapers
A one-hour counseling session for a woman seeking help for the first time
One weekly drop-in group session for survivors of domestic violence
An hour of ASL interpreting for a deaf survivor's counseling session
Three sessions for children who have witnessed domestic violence
A month of on-call advocacy for victims of domestic violence police calls
All contributions are tax-deductible,
and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately after you donate.
Thank you so much for your support! If you want to register for the event or learn more about it, visit http://hotchocolaterun.com.
Lots of love,
